O’Reilly books now available in the Apple App Store

December 11th, 2009

I was surfing around the App Store the other day, and to my delight I noticed that O’Reilly is now offering a number of their titles as iPhone/iPod Apps! I’ve been a fan of their books for a little while now (currently I’m reading Twitter API Up and Running), so I was happy to see they had made the jump to the App Store.

Digital vs. Paper

Now don’t get me wrong, I like a good hardcopy of a book as well as the next guy. However, for the price tag of $5.99, you can’t go wrong with picking up the iPod version! If the book turns out to be excellent, then go pick up the hardcopy. If not, you’ve saved yourself a little bit of cash then can be better spent on something like beer.

What should I read?

For my first O’Reilly App, I decided to go with Building iPhone Apps with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript: Making App Store Apps Without Objective-C or Cocoa. I’ve made it through the first few chapters and so far so good. Once I finish it off, I’ll be sure to post a review here on the blog. In the meantime, I’d encourage you to check out O’Reilly’s offerings in the App Store.
