Additional Instructions
How to change the Twitter feed to your account:
- Open the cardeo-minimal directory and open the footer.php file
- Find this line of code:
<script type=”text/javascript”..user_timeline/mlambert.json?..- My Twitter username is mlambert.
- Change mlambert to whatever your Twitter username is.
- Save the file and upload it back to the cardeo-minimal theme folder, over-writing the old footer.php file on the server.
- Go to your website and hit refresh, your Twitter account info should now appear.
Update November 18, 2008 – There is a small known issue with this theme on some webhosts. Upon installation an error message will appear, when you view the live website, referring to an issue with the functions.php file. I’m working on fixing this for version 2.0, but for now, just delete the functions.php from the cardeo-minimal theme folder and you will be good to go. thanks

Thanks for the amazing theme, just having a slight problem when I installed it. When I try and make a post, it says the following underneath the save and publish buttons.
Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/cblog/public_html/wp-content/themes/cardeo-minimal/functions.php:11) in /home/cblog/public_html/wp-includes/classes.php on line 806
Any ideas what that is all about? Plus when I tried to delete or make a post it says the following after clicking it.

Hey, delete the funtions.php file from the cardeo-minimal theme folder. There is some type of conflict i plan to fix for version 2. For now deleting that file will fix it.

Ah right, thanks for the fix! The twitter bit is nothing to do with your theme I went on the Twitter FAQ’s and other people having problems with it, i think it is a Firefox issue.

Hi there!
I’m playing with this in a test bed and am having problems with the 404 page showing.
When viewing a 404 error, the header and footer disappear and the sidebar moves over the the right side.
Any ideas on how to fix this?

Hi, no I have not.
Was just stating that if you manually enter a bad URL, you are redirected to the gary 404.
However if you search something that does not exists, you get a funky result.
The 404 of a bad search is the theme, only the header and footer are missing.
The sidebar still remains however it’s repositioned to the left of the page.
In fact, I think this might be a bug with your current page as well?

Can anyone suggest a good way to manage and organize my blogroll links? I’m not a coder, just fumbling around. A plug-in? Or are the widgets supposed to work and they don’t for some reason?

Have you installed the minimal theme, then gone to the links section within the admin, added links, and they aren’t showing up on the public site? It should work.
Or do you just have a ton of blogroll links that you want to organize?

My links show up but I can’t organize them after I imported them from my wp.com blog. Is there a way to do that or do I need to find a plugin for it. If that’s the case that is no problem. Didn’t know if there was something I was missing.

I believe the default is alphabetical – is that what you are seeing? Under the links tab in the wp admin, you can create link categories – that will allow you to sort your links into separate categories if you like.

Hi! I love this theme and am adapting it for a friend’s website – is there any way to make a drop-down menu for the pages? As you can see at http://www.bestlifeabroad.org, the subpages extend quite too far to the right for the “Coaching” category, a simple drop-down menu would look better. Thank you for your help!

I’m currently working on a new site using the Cardeo Minimal theme. Is there any way I could edit the theme, so it only shows one image per post on the frontpage, instead of showing all images per post on the frontpage?

Hi Thomas, you need to use the “more” tag in the WordPress admin to achieve this. The “more” tag allows you to hide everything, that comes after it, from the main blog feed.
So when you are creating a new post, insert your first image, then insert the “more” tag after the image code. There is a “more” button built into the WordPress wysiwig editor, or you can cut and paste the below code:
<!--more-->
After the “more” tag, insert the code for the rest of your images. Now that will give you only one image on the main blog feed, but when you go to the actual post, you will see all the images. Hope that makes sense.

Thanks for the prompt reply! Removing the ads was easy, though it does leave the “About Me” hanging all the way out on the right.
However, only respond if you want the next solution posted for the future – I was playing around with a bunch of themes yesterday and think I’ve settled on something that works for me. Thanks again!

Hey, try adding a “/” before wp-content in your image path.
Why are you wanting to implement frames within the website? Not sure why you would want to do that and I would highly recommend against doing it for a number of reasons. Frames are dead my friend.

Hi there,
I like this theme a lot. I was getting the Warning about header information and in doing a little bit of online research, it seems that if you go into functions.php and delete the blank line just above the php for sidebar, and click Update, it will fix the problem. You may get an error just after doing this, but when you go back to add a Page or Post, things should work just fine.
I’m having a different issue. In IE7, I’m seeing that this theme is triggering an Unknown Runtime Error. That’s what’s blocking me from using this theme for right now because I can’t it out. If you have any tips for eliminating this problem, I may be working from this theme!

Wait, figured it out. I went into the footer and deleted the two Javascripts you had in there. When I deleted them and updated the footer.php file, I no longer got the Unknown Runtime Error. Phew! Now I’ll play more with your theme.

Is there a way to do a drop down menu of pages (for the top) with this theme.

Hi Angie, there is currently no functionality built in for drop-down menus. However, you could always code it into the header.php template yourself. thanks

Hey Sean,
You can get one rolling pretty easy. Click on the RSS button in your url bar, on your browser. This will load the RSS feed in the browser (safari, firefox). Simply copy the feed address out of the url bar and paste it in, as a link, into the theme. If you’d like it on the sidebar, the file you need to edit is sidebar.php. hi matt,
the theme is great – i’m really excited about it.
however, i’m having an issue with getting the ads on the home page. i made an ad vias the spec in the sidebar.php, named it ad.gif and uploaded it to the server, reloaded the page and nothing changed.
also – i am wondering if those ad squares can be given a hyperlink so that they take the reader to a particular (hidden) page, or if not, a particular post….
sorry if these are basic problems (still learning!) but i’ve looked around and can’t find the answer elsewhere.

Hey Matt,
When I hit the rss feed icon in firefox get a “Warning: Cannot modify header information”…
In Safari it says “The feed could not be loaded because the content is not in a known feed format.”
Any ideas?
