Bulletproof Web Design
by Dan Cederholm
This is currently my favorite web design book. It covers all you need to know about coding clean and compliant CSS and HTML. Topics covered include: scaleable navigation, indestructible boxes, and fluid layouts to name a few. This book is great for beginners but also has much to offer for the seasoned programmer.

by Jeffrey Zeldman
The originator and holy bible when it comes to web standards. This is a must read for anyone who wants to be considered a web professional. You’ll learn about improving your css layouts and how to properly optimize your website for search engines like google. Make sure you check it out.
Don’t Make Me Think
by Steve Krug
Usability can be a major question mark for graphic designers that are entering the web design world. What is this mysterious usability that you keep speaking of? It is basically the practice of making your website “useable” for your viewers. Which means arranging everything in a manner that makes sense, allowing for easy location of information, and the use of a consistent navigation and structure. There is definitely more to it then that but that’s why you need to read the book!
Designing For the Social Web
by Joshua Porter
I know I don’t have to tell the majority of readers of my blog that Social Media is a pretty big deal. If you are a graphic designer, working on the internet, you need to bring yourself up to speed on Social Networking, Social Bookmarking, and all the Web 2.0 trends. Some of the topics discussed in this book are: the psychology on why people use social media, how to get people to sign up for your social media endeavors, and how to grow your social website or application.
Bulletproof Web Typography
by Jeff Croft
This last book is a bit of a curve-ball because it hasn’t been released yet! However, the title says it all and the author is one of the most respected programmers on the web. We all know the limits of type on the web but this book should show you how to push those limits to the fullest. Pre-order it today.
